Tom Hunter and Mike Torrence win Fall Golf OutingPublish Date: 2008-09-23
The bragging rights for the McPherson Optimist Club go with Tom Hunter and Mike Torrence (Hutchinson, KS)
as they teamed together to win the fall version of the Optimist Club Championship. The event this fall was held at the Hesston Golf Course. The "ultimate team" concept was played for this outing, which means six holes of two person scramble, six holes of two person shamble and six holes of individual stroke play. In addition to being part of the winning team, Mr. Hunter carded the lowest individual score as he shot a blazing hot 77. Second place in the team event went to James Melland and Jack Rader, with John Klenda and Dennis Shaw taking third. There were a total of eight two person teams, and the scoring was very tight, with several ties that required score card play-offs. In addition to the players on the top three scoring teams, other players included: Rod Martin, Joe Johnston, Gabe Prescott, Don Fast, Neil Colle, Gabe Goering, Keith Janzen, Archie Smith, Ardie Streit and Ken Seeley. We'll hope to see you in the spring for another outing.
