McPherson Optimist Club Spring Golf OutingPublish Date: 2008-06-16 Beautiful weather, fast greens and deep rough were all in play at the 2008 edition of the McPherson Optimist Club Spring golf outing. This year's tournament was played at the Elks Country Club in Salina. The six four person teams played a four man "Ultimate" team event, which included six holes of scramble, six holes of shamble and six holes of individual stroke play. It was a new format, and it seemed to provide a lot of fun and excitement to the scoring. The team of John Klenda, Bob "100 handicap" Baldwin, James Nelson and Keith Janzen blazed to a 10 stroke win over the team of Gabe Prescott, Joe Johnston, Jack Rader and Monte Koehn. Bob Baldwin won two of the closet to the pin contests as well as the longest putt. Brad Miller won one of the closest to the pin contests. Thanks to all of you who joined us for the tournament. We will plan to have another outing in the fall. Keep practicing!
