Optimist Club Announces John Watkins Memorial Golf Tournament

The McPherson Optimist Club has announced they will be holding the 1st Annual John Watkins Memorial Optimist Golf Tournament on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson. John had been an Optimist Club member for almost 25 years and passed away in April after a lengthy battle with cancer. John was a very active member of the Optimist Club and 11 of the current 100 members were sponsored by John. He was also a past president and board member of the club. Entry fee for the 18 hole scramble golf tournament is $50 per player/$200 team. Lunch will be included with the entry fee. Registration and lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1:15. Golf cart rental is not included in the fee.
The McPherson Optimist Board of Directors has decided to use the proceeds from the tournament to help endow the Optimist Club Watkins Memorial Fund at the McPherson County Community Foundation.
