Gift Program fund-raiser a huge success!Publish Date: 2006-11-21 There is an old saying that goes something like "you'd better watch out what you ask for, because you might just get it". This quote usually applies when things don't quite work out like you had hoped. In the case of the Optimist Club
Gift Program fund-raiser at the American Legion, we got EXACTLY what we hoped for! Last year we generated nearly $700 and we set our goal this year to surpass that amount. The final numbers
are not in yet, but it appears we will make over $900 and perhaps nearly $1,000! What a great start to funding our Gift project for 2006! The members of our club were asked to bring desserts and to provide resources to work during the event. We had enough desserts to feed all those present, with plenty left over. As the photos show, we had a terrific turnout of Optimists. Everyone chipped in, either by buying and selling tickets, bringing desserts or by helping clear tables and sweep the floor. Special recognition goes to Larry Shotts, who helped in the kitchen, and to Bob Baldwin and Steve Bahr who manned the beverage line. Great job, everyone! A lot of teens in the area will benefit this Christmas due to your efforts.
