Optimist Club Rings in New YearPublish Date: 2006-10-09 A new year began for the McPherson Optimist Club at the October 3rd meeting with President Brady Wilborn ringing the bell. Immediate Past President, Rick Stein, was presented a plaque by President Wilborn recognizing Rick for his excellent leadership this past year. Largely due to Rick's enthusiasm and guidance, the Club enjoyed fiscal and membership growth during his term as President.
President Wilborn's first official act was to present the Optimist of the Year award to a surprised Keith Janzen. Keith stepped up and served as the Club's Secretary/Treasurer at a time when it was desperately needed. The entire membership appreciates Keith's hard work and dedication to the Club.
At the October 3rd meeting, President Wilborn presented a $250 contribution to Brenda Sales, Director of the McPherson United Way. Brenda, along with Steve Burghart, this year’s United Way Drive Chairman, presented the program at the breakfast meeting.
