Optimists Run Concession Stand at Boys Soccer TournamentPublish Date: 2006-09-23 Approximately 30 Optimists spent part of their Labor Day and the following Thursday and Saturday helping run the concession stand during the 2nd Annual McPherson High School Invitational Soccer Tournament. Each day the Stadium at McPherson College played host to four games featuring teams from Hays High, Thomas Moore Prep - Hays, Andover Central, Buhler, Wichita Trinity, Salina South, Elyria and McPherson. With most of the teams being from the McPherson area, attendance at most games was very good, with the feature game being McPherson and Elyria. After last years upset victory by Elyria, McPherson fans came out in full to support the Pups in their effort to even the series. Great fan attendance of course met great concession sales.
Overall, the concession stand was open for 36 hours over the three days. Total sales were over $2,000 and after concession expenses, the club raised $1,025. Thanks to all those who took time from their day to help with the concession stand and also to the McPherson High School Athletic Department for giving us this great fund raising opportunity.
