Optimist Club runs concessions stand at McPherson Car Club show

On May 7th several of our members volunteered to run the concession stand at the McPherson Car's Club car show held at McPherson College. The car show is an annual event that draws over 100 anitique, classic and unusual cars and their owners to the McPherson Community. The cars being shown ranged from antiques to the newest of the new. There was even a brand new Mercedes-Benz with a market value of over $600,000 at this year's show. The committee who arranged for the Optimist Club to run the concessions stand included: Bob Baldwin, Danny Glidewell, John Watkins, Bob Moore, Bill Parker, Jack Rader and Chad Alexander. In addition to the committee members, Mary Ann Conyers, Tom Hunter, David Parks and Jerry Meng volunteered part of their Saturday to help the club raise funds. The efforts of these members generated an additional $400 for our club. Great Job, folks! The car that Rick and Pam Wilborn are looking at is the high prized 2005 Mercedes-Benz, which we were told would sell for somewhere around $600-700,000. The first one of these cars made this year was purchased by Jay Leno.
