OPTIMIST FAMILY PICNICPublish Date: 2005-07-31 On July 31st,2005 many members and their families gathered for a club pot-luck picnic at Lakeside Park. We enjoyed good food, fun games, and fellowship. In attendance was an estimated 60 people including spouses and children. Despite the scorching weather (90+ degrees!) everyone really had a good time!
Through David Parks we found out that the Derby club has a trailer full of games for kids. We were able to contact the club and they were kind enough to allow us to use them. The main attraction was the Moonwalk. This is like a giant blow-up trampoline with padded walls! The kids really enjoyed this and the other games which included a basketball pop-a-shot, bean bag toss, ball toss, and others.
The committee members for the event included Rick Stein, Steve Bahr, Jay Pavlik, David Parks, and Chad Alexander. The club purchased the meat (hamburgers, brats, and hotdogs) and each family brought a side dish or salad.
While the weather could have been cooler a good time was had by all and we are anticipating this could be an annual event!
