Our club brings home the trophy--again!

For the fifth year in a row, the McPherson Optimist Club golf team won first place in the George A. Scott Memorial State Optimist Golf Tournament held at the Eagle Bend Golf club in Lawrence on August 12. This years team consisted of Chad Alexander, Jack Rader, Dave Chartier and John Watkins. All four players contributed key shots during the day, and it was a good thing they did, as again all the scores were very close. Four teams were within one stroke of winning this year's event. The McPherson club won on a score card play-off, a feat they accomplished in three of the past four victories. Congratulations to this year's winning McPherson team! The other clubs in the state said they are ready to try to win the trophy from us next year. For some reason, winning by a score card play-off every year doesn't seem to make the other clubs feel we are unbeatable. Until McPherson loses, we are still the best Optimist Club golfers in Kansas!
