Team Meng wins final 2009 Golf Outing

The team of Jerry Meng, Donna Viola, Tom Goldsmith and Dave Chartier has the honor of being the best McPherson Optimist Golf Team for the remainder of 2009. Their team score of 13 over par was 10 strokes better than the second place team of Larry Fitzmorris, Dennis Shaw and Archie Smith. The format for this tournament, held at Turkey Creek in McPherson, included six holes each of scramble, shamble and play you own ball. For a change of pace, we teed off from the front tees, but no male under the age of 65 could use their driver. As windy as it was, the shorter tee shot really helped the scores. In addition to the team contests, Jack Rader won closest to the pin on hole number 12, Tom Goldsmith has closest to the pin on number 15 and Jerry Meng had the longest putt on number 18. We will plan to see you at one of the golf outings next year.
