Golf Tournament Results

On June 3, 2006, our club attended the Senior U.S. Open training at Hutchinson, KS. Following the extensive 90 minute lecture on how to quiet a crowd and the proper use of cell phones and cameras (NOT), a group of 15 of our members headed to Hesston Golf Course for a terrific round of golf. We played a "shamble", which requires each member of the team to hit a drive and then choose which drive was the best. Each member gets to use that drive and then play their own ball from that spot. It makes for a lot of fun and interesting scores. The winning team was made up the following players: Larry "Tiger" Fitzmorris, Jordan "Long John" Fithian, and Doug "Hoss" Curtright. The longest drive went to Ardie Streit, the closest to the pin prize went to Jack Rader and the longest putt was made by Larry Fitzmorris. A highlight of the day was a hole in one made by Archie Smith. This was the first in Archie's illustrious career of playing in Optimist tournaments, and the first of the McPherson Club tournament as well. Great shot, Archie! Everyone had so much fun, we have decided to try to play again in the fall. Watch for the details.
